Your Railway Memorabilia Valued....FREE?

Sheffield Railwayana Auctions offered a free valuation service for railway memorabilia - in the style of a Railway 'Antiques Roadshow'. The leading railwayana auction-house had its experts available to tell you all about treasures that might have laid dormant in your garage, attic or cellar for the past decades. At the Crewe 2003 Open Weekend the public brought everything from totems to shed plates, watches clocks etc. Some items were worth several hundred pounds and occasionally into the thousands !

LNWR Nameplate Display Ian Wright of Sheffield Railwayana Auctions organised a nameplate display of 100 LNWR nameplates valued at over £1 million. It included nameplates from Precursors, Precedents, Claughtons, George Vs and Jumbos. Some are valued at up to £30,000 each and most have never been on public display before.

Traction Department Memorabilia The staff from the Crewe Works Traction Department will once again be running a works memorabilia stall to be sited at the entrance to the traction shop. They have already reported very generous donations of memorabilia and railway artefacts from around the works and the Crewe locality. The sale will include many old tools some stamped with the names of old railway companies, gauges, railway specifications, old railway books, prints, videos and photographs. This stall, which was an innovation in 2003, proved to be very popular and raised £3400, all of which went to charities.

The charities are; St Lukes (Cheshire) Hospice, Hope House Hospice, Emmie Dixon Home, Alzheimers Society (Leighton Hospital), Leighton Hospital Macmillan Nurse Appeal & Railway Benevolent Institute.
